Planet Earth stands on the cusp of disaster and people should no longer take it for granted that their children and grandchildren will survive in the environmentally degraded world of the 21st century. This is not the doom-laden talk of green activists but the considered opinion of 1,300 leading scientists from 95 countries who will today publish a detailed assessment of the state of the world at the start of the new millennium.
Lovely news for a thursday morning...as the birds chirp and oh..wait yup they're still chirping, just couldn't hear them over the car starting up in the driveway...Seems like it won't be long till a Silent Spring

"Slow and enexorable decline" or "global environmental collapse"? Water shortages? New diseases? Meh. How depressing. I just hope people either work together to fix everything up (for lack of a better term) for us, our babies, and future generations or just end the world, prefferably in an all out nuclear war or something equally flashy, quick, and final.

On another note, excellent post Kwtia! Your blog truly is one of my favorite blogs! You're detached from all the petty "he said, she said" blog squabbles. More importantly, you don't pretend to not take sides and actually do so privately (read: You aren't a hypocrite). You're above all that.

Also your posts are ALWAYS so interesting, current news with an informative yet refreshing twist. Did you know that after reading your post on "vaccinations" out loud to my married, older (and only) sister, she'd decided to rethink the whole vaccinating her children thing (she doesn't have any...yet). I'm not saying she's not going to let them get their shots. I'm just saying that she's not going to go blindly into it, and they'll only get the necessary shots needed. It's all thanks to your post :)

Also I might not reply to all of your posts (cuz I honestly might not have anything else to say besides "awesome job" and that gets redundant after so long) but I read them ALL (and open a seperate window to dictionary.com 'cuz of all the gigantamous words). So not only is your blog informative but it's also helping me personally enrich my vocabulary. Okay to recap, I love your blog, really! Keep up the great work, friend :)

D'n'G, wow!..the blog comment thing was not working and then suddenly this long response from you suddenly pops out of nowhere and I am so very flattered and what a lovely thing to hear on a slow friday afternoon. You know, it's always lovely to hear from someone that I happen to be a big fan of, and to hear such sweet things on top of that is just amazing. Thanks, my friend, really.
I try to be of some use on this blog, maybe get some info out there that someone might need,I am glad that actually does happen every once in a while.
By the way have you been to the Japanese superstore yet? Watch out, as you're walking down the aisles the employees leap out of nowhere and scream welcome greetings. And also, you made me waste hours doing quizzes and personality things last week, good thing my office work actually got done in time :)

not really, this is a combination of many factors, some are human caused, some are the work of nature, and some are just the way things are in this universe, so in essence, the best one can do is postpone it, but the end is coming and very soon, my guess is at best max. 40 years.

What happenes after those years is not known, am not a fortune teller, but you could see a new earth, new civilization, etc., you never know.

I only said the truth :) By the way, I'm not the only one that feels that way about your blog. Lots of others do too even though they might not say it. I was really flattered when I read that you're a fan of mine as well lol
I'm also glad that you tried out those quizzes. They were fun :P I've been meaning to go to the Japanese superstore but I blew most of my paycheck money on stuff from amazon so I gotta wait till next month but thanks muchly for the directions. I checked the place out from the outside just so I'd know for sure where to go next time.
