June 20th was Refugee Day...9 million children are refugees...which is why the UNHCR has launched ninemillion.org...so we can learn and help..there are over 20 million refugees in our world...I'm not sure that's the kind of world I want.

Refugee communities hail from places like Afghanistan, Angola, Burma, Burundi, DR Congo, Eritrea, Iraq, Palestine, Somalia and Sudan/Darfur. They can be Armenians, Biharis, stateless Arabs, Kurds, Romanis, and they are called stateless, asylum seekers, displaced , uprooted, forgotten people... but they are ultimately people with a "right to seek and to enjoy in other countries asylum from persecution."

The BBC's beautiful...awful... photos of Palestinian children...the world's oldest and largest refugee population

I was talking to a friend of mine who works at the UNHCR in Kuwait and was wondering if he been busy. He says lately they been dealing with lots of refugees from southern Iran by Iraq.

Seems the government has been harrassing the Arab-Iranians and they been going to Iraq for safety.

Strange that we never here that in the news.
